On Friday October 25, 2024 the senior cheerleaders officially had their senior night. Along with this game being senior night, it was also the last regular game of the season for the varsity Bulldog football team.
Just before the game, all senior cheerleaders, band members, and football players are recognized. All cheerleaders participated in many events and came up with many ideas to make all of the senior cheerleaders as well as band members and football players enjoy their senior night.
The other varsity cheerleaders participated in making senior night very special for all the senior cheerleaders.
Junior cheerleader, Joscelyn Burkey exemplifies, “We wanted to make senior night for the senior cheerleaders special. We decided to participate in buying them personalized senior sweatshirts as well as a personalized megaphone picture frame. We also gifted the seniors with senior sashes that they were able to wear the whole game.”
The senior cheerleaders also received a personalized gift from their coach.
Senior cheerleader, Ava Foertch explains, “Our varsity cheer coach, Erin Rich, gifted all the seniors with a very special gift. We all received personalized picture blankets.”
Each Bulldog cheerleader received a different blanket with their own pictures throughout all their years as a cheerleader.
Foertch adds, “On my specific blanket, there were all different kinds of pictures ranging from when I was on LLB, Lakeview Little Bulldogs cheer squad, all the way up to senior year. Seeing how we all have grown throughout the years through cheer was very special to all of us.”
Something that was also a moment all seniors took in on this night would be walking down the field getting recognized before the game.
Senior cheerleader, Adrienne Rich, expresses, “Walking down the field as a senior felt surreal. It was definitely a moment that I had to take in and enjoy every moment from our last game.”
Walking down the field as a senior felt unreal for all the cheerleaders.
Foertch declares, “I always thought 4 years of high school was a long time, but on Friday I was walking down the field being escorted by my parents. It all seemed strange that I am old enough to be walking down the field.”
The senior night game for the football team, band members, cheerleaders, and students was a very exciting game. The Bulldogs played against Beaver Local and officially made it into the playoffs.
This game was exciting for everyone, Burkey feels, “The game was extremely exciting and the Bulldog football team pulled out a good win. Even though this was the last official game of the season, we could possibly have a few more.”
After the win against Beaver Local, the senior cheerleaders took pictures on the field to create even a few more memories from senior night.
Rich includes, “We all wanted to take a few pictures in the middle of the field for more memories from this special night for us seniors.”
Even though the cheerleaders thought this was their last game of the season, it was not. The Bulldogs then went to the playoffs which was their last official game. This was one of the emotional times for all of the cheerleaders.
Foertch explains, “Throughout the game, all of us cheerleaders started to get more and more emotional because it was our last time cheering at a high school football game. Once the game ended there were many tears from all the cheerleaders.”
Though the rest of the varsity cheerleaders have next year to continue to cheer, it was even very emotional for them as well.
Burkey reveals, “This was definitely the most emotional time of the whole season. It finally hit all of us that this was the last time I will be able to cheer with this group of girls, especially the seniors.”
Throughout this whole season it was emotional for the seniors, but also the juniors that were also part of the varsity squad. All the Bulldog cheerleaders had a great season, but are very upset that it has come to an end.
