Looking for a way to escape the winter slump, skip two periods, and have an absolute blast with your friends? Then don’t miss the Teachers vs. Students volleyball game on February 21st during 6th and 7th period! This epic match will bring fun, school spirit, and a much-needed break from academic pressures. Students and staff will face off in an exciting showdown that you won’t want to miss. The game will be filled with energy, laughter, and maybe even some unexpected volleyball skills that you won’t want to miss.
Our school’s Assemble for Change group has been hard at work behind the scenes. Organizing every detail to ensure the event is fun and memorable, especially Junior Chelsea Walker and Senior Will Bullock.
“The purpose is to create a school wide event that I know kids will enjoy. I want something that can be a fun stress-reliever and there are even more benefits by it being for a charity,” Walker emphasizes. Their work has helped shape the event to run as smoothly as possible, hoping this event will return in upcoming years.
This isn’t just any friendly competition, though. All proceeds from the event will go directly to Warren Family Mission, a local charity dedicated to supporting those in need. With a great cause behind it, this game is more than just an entertaining spectacle– it’s an opportunity for the school to come together, have fun, and make a meaningful impact.
The seniors from the volleyball team will also have an active role in the game; refereeing and using their expertise of the sport and keeping the game safe for everyone.
Senior Kennedy Bartlett comments “I think people should join this game because it will promote our school’s culture, giving both students and teachers an exciting break from their typical days. As a volleyball player, I’m excited to see how everyone plays the game and if they have fun doing so. The more people that join, the more exciting the game would be.”
Most students face hesitation when deciding whether or not they want to participate in the game. It can be from either nerves and disinterest. When asked why she wasn’t going to participate, Senior Ava Foertch expressed, “I won’t be participating because it’s something I’m not really interested in. I think it’s a very good cause and is something fun our school’s doing, but I won’t participate.”
However, whether you’re playing or cheering from the sidelines, there’s something for everyone at this event. Minute to Win It games will add an extra layer of entertainment, giving students the chance to participate in quick, high-energy challenges. Music will be playing throughout, keeping the atmosphere lively, and of course, the main attraction being the volleyball game itself.
In addition to all the action on the court, concessions will be available, so be sure to bring some cash if you want to grab a snack while you watch. Entry to the event costs just $1, and for those who want to get in on the game themselves, it’s $5 to play.
While some have already signed up to participate, it’s encouraged that seniors should join the festivities. If you’re interested, sign up as soon as possible! This is your chance to not only have fun but also to make more memories before graduation. Spots are filling up quickly, and you don’t want to miss your shot to show off your skills or at least share a laugh with friends and teachers.
So, mark your calendars and get ready to cheer for your favorite team. Lakeview High School’s first ever teachers vs. students volleyball is not to be missed!
