This school year you may notice there are many new faces including both students and staff. There have been many changes like 8th grade moving up to the high school and many other things. Lakeview High School has welcomed many new staff members this year who have helped out to a great extent this year so far. One of these staff members includes Stacie Lawson. However, she isn’t new to Lakeview, but she is new to the position she has taken!
Lawson has been working at Lakeview for 6 years, mostly at the middle school. She has covered many jobs for Lakeview including a daily substitute teacher, a long term substitute teacher, and an academic support staff during COVID. She was a long term substitute for two subjects including 8th grade English and 7th grade math.
Lawson is now in the position of a building assistant/secretary. She fills a few different spots throughout the school day helping out Lakeview tremendously this year. Lawson is mostly a secretary throughout the day, but she also oversees two study hall periods, and assists the media center at the end of the day. Lawson gets to experience different parts of Lakeview High School whether it’s helping students in the study halls and media center or welcoming visitors and students into school everyday!
Lawson stated, “I greatly appreciate that my new position requires me to be in 2 locations within the building that are air conditioned! I like that I can communicate with parents and members of the community on a daily basis in the office. I also enjoy being able to help students with assignments during study hall, typically math. This year I am looking forward to getting to know the High School staff and all of the students new and current.”
Lawson also talked about how this year has been going when she stated, “This year is off to a great start. It has been wonderful seeing students I haven’t seen in years and also seeing familiar faces as well. The high school staff has been very welcoming, kind, and helpful.”
So far, it sounds like Lawson has a great start to this new school year! After I reached out to some of the student office aides who get to work with Lawson throughout the day, they all had wonderful things to say about her.
Office aide and Sophomore Ali Parise stated, “Mrs. Lawson is a very kind and friendly person to work with in the office. She does a great job at getting lots of things done in the office and around the high school. Mrs. Lawson will always help students when they need help with schoolwork or other things. She is extremely welcoming to students and will put a smile on their faces. She keeps everything organized and things run smoothly with her dedication for the school. Overall, Mrs. Lawson’s attitude and personality brings a positive energy to the office and makes being an office aide more enjoyable.”
The students see Lawson as a great help to Lakeview running around and getting things done. Lawson has made a good first impression with students here at Lakeview High School doing her job extremely well and having a positive attitude.
Another office aide and Sophomore Mackenzie Stowe mentioned, “I think Mrs. Lawson has made an extremely positive impact on Lakeview and has given our other secretary a lot of help in the office. She is also such a nice and funny person who uplifts people and always gives a helping hand to anyone in need of help.”
This year will definitely be a great school year with all of the new staff here to help make Lakeview a good community. We are glad to have Lawson here to help this year with all of the good things she will bring to the high school!
