This Senior spotlight goes out to Cooper Schiavone. Schiavone has been a Lakeview Bulldog his whole life and is a familiar face here at Lakeview. After high school, Schiavone plans to attend Kent State University to take on the next steps of his life.
With college knocking on the door and the next steps of his life to come, Schiavone reflects on some key parts of his high school career.
Schiavone reflects on what he wishes he would have known as a freshman, and if he could go back to freshman year and start over, what would he have done differently “How much harder you had to work to get what you wanted. Nothing comes easily and you have to work for it.”
Throughout high school, friendships are always key and can have positive impacts on you. Friends can help when you struggle in life and help when you truly need them to.
I asked seniors Ty Chamberlain and Matthew Seikel, two friends of Schiavone, about what they thought about Cooper as a friend and the impact he has had on their lives. Chamberlain elaborated, ” Cooper has been a friend of mine for a long time and he has done nothing but good and positive things for Lakeview, and in general, everyone. He is always there for you when you need him to be and I have got closer and closer with him each year and I know wherever he decides to take his next steps in life, that it will be nothing but greatness.”
Seikel then elaborated,”Schiavone has been a true friend of mine and we do a lot together. Whether it’s playing MLB the show, going to golf, or getting something to eat, it is always a great time. Cooper has had a positive impact on my life and is a great person who does great things for this community here at Lakeview.”
Schiavone has not only made an impact on his friends but has made an impact on Lakeview too and will continue to do so every single day.
Inside of school, there are not only friendships built but there are also teachers who can have a positive impact on their students’ lives as well. One teacher that stuck out to Schiavone almost immediately is math teacher Dean Shanower, a longtime teacher here at Lakeview. Schiavone was asked about Shanower and he talked about the positive impact he has had on him throughout his high school years. “I’ve gotten to know him very well through bowling and he has taught me many life lessons that I will teach my kids someday. ”
Schiavone is a familiar face in the sports scene also and has been a great bowler here at Lakeview for the past 4 years.
One of his greatest accomplishments in his bowling career here at Lakeview was making it to state in 2021. Schiavone was asked about this and other accomplishments he has made bowling. “I made it to state in 2021 and was all-conference three out of my four years. I made lots of memories that I will have forever and met lots of great people throughout my years bowling. ”
Lastly, Schiavone talked about advice he has for all underclassmen and what the most difficult part of his senior year has been. “Enjoy it while it lasts. High school flies by faster than you’ll realize. Getting through with good grades, you know that you are at the end, so you stop wanting to work even though you still have to every single day”
Good Luck to 2024 Senior Cooper Schiavone as he takes the next big steps of his young life!!
