Lakeview High School has officially unveiled its new video board inside the new gym, giving both the girls and boys basketball teams a higher level game day experience. The idea first brought forward by Lakeview girls basketball coach, Jason Lee, was developed over the past year with hopes to energize his athletes, building more community support, and more fundraising opportunities for the future Bulldog athletes. The board was made in its debut at the start of the 2025 season, and is already capturing attention from the coaches, players, and fans.
The purpose of the new addition to the Bulldogs gym is very simple: elevate the home-court experience. This new board is now allowing the Bulldogs to display their photos, advertising opportunities, recognitions, and more. From the starting line ups to clutch plays, this new video board is going to reshape the Bulldogs program and how it presents itself.
Lee said the board will transform how his athletes are recognized, including how the crowd engages from start to finish. He sees this board not only as a piece of technology, but also something that is strengthening the entire basketball program as a whole. The Bulldogs plan to use this board for player introductions, highlights, and the youth program during community nights. According to Lee, the younger players are growing up, going to the games, imagining their names being shown on the board, helping with the long-term excitement that comes with being a future Bulldog on the high school court.
Lee said, “What excites me most about the new video board is how it transforms our gym into a true home-court environment. It gives our girls a college-level game-day experience right here at Lakeview. We can showcase player introductions, highlight plays, and recognize our athletes in real time-whether that’s a big three, a hustle play, or a milestone moment.” Lee adds, “Younger kids are going to see themselves on that board someday, and that kind of vision and excitement is what keeps them in the game. It’s not just a scoreboard; it’s a tool to build pride, energy, and a real sense of ‘One Pack, One Goal’ in our gym.”
Another positive to this board is the fundraising aspect. Instead of having to rely on the constant small fundraisers that are overused, and nobody participates anymore, the video board is able to provide an ongoing source of revenue. There are local businesses that can now purchase promotion spots that are shown up on the board, and families can buy shout outs for athletes. All of these funds will help support uniforms, new equipment, opportunities for athletes in need, and summer leagues.
Lee explained, “Our plan is to use it as a platform for sponsorships and shout-outs that directly support the program. Local businesses will be able to advertise on the board during games, and families can purchase season-long shout outs. The funds we raise will go right back into the program, helping pay for uniforms, league fees, equipment, summer leagues, camps, and opportunities for future Bulldogs.”
Student athletes are all equally excited. For a lot of people, this new board is bringing a different level of energy this basketball season. Senior players, who have been spending their energy representing the Bulldogs basketball team say that this new upgrade is and has already changed the feelings during warmups and when teams walk in to see their Bulldogs team presented on the board.
Senior girls basketball player Isabella Isenberg says, “The new board excites me because it creates an enhanced in-game atmosphere by allowing us to display player and team graphics while playing!” Isenberg adds, “This board will impact the basketball in many ways! One of the most prominent ways is allowing local businesses to market their services and products while simultaneously enabling the basketball team to fundraise for our program!”
Another senior on the girls basketball team, Annabelle Humphrey says the video board has already been boosting the team morale and makes the game nights feel much more intense and competitive. She believes that this great upgrade shows that being a Bulldog means that you are being cared for and invested for the experience.
Humphrey responds, “Seeing our introductions on the big screen has already gotten us excited in a way we never have before. It makes every home game feel bigger, making us want to compete even harder.” She continues, “This board will bring our community together, and it shows the future Bulldogs that basketball is moving forward and not backward. It is something everyone in the basketball program can be proud of.”
With the Bulldogs new addition for their home games, the gym has transformed into a high energy home where the Bulldogs will continue to shine, and where the future Bulldogs will continue to see themselves up on the big screen in years to come.
