The Lakeview Bulldogs softball team has had great success this season. With a record of 18-5 and counting. With the varsity team having large success the JV follows right behind in their path. With the season almost coming to an end the JV season is almost over as they don’t play in the playoffs only varsity.
The JV softball team consists of mostly freshmen and sophomores. It is crucial to the success of the varsity team. Everyone has to start somewhere in softball and the JV team is ready to step up to the next level for varsity. That is how the varsity team has had so much success they are able to build their players up
With the varsity team losing 4 seniors there will be many more spots that open up to be on varsity next year. Everyone is working hard to claim those 4 spots. The coaches are watching them carefully and evaluating them this season to try and see who is most worthy to fill the shoes of the varsity players that they will be losing after this year.
The JV has a record of 3-4 not as good as the varsity squad but it is still a very respectable record. They haven’t been able to fully play as many JV games as the varsity team. That is only because the other teams in our area don’t have JV teams.
Sophomore McKenzie O’Rourke goes on to explain how the team’s season has been going so far. O’Rourke explained, “The JV season has been good. We are putting in the work and getting better every time we go out there.”
O’Rourke explains that the JV team is improving every time they go out there. Every practice, every game and every time they step foot on that field. Only playing 7 games so far this season they still are yet getting better. From practicing against the varsity they are improving seeing the best pitchers and hitters they are improving by getting practice against them.
Sophomore Norah Skilnik was questioned how are you guys getting prepared to play varsity. Skilnik responded, “Continue to keep the energy of what Lakeview softball is through the last 2 years. Bare minimum work gives you bare minimum results so put in what you want to get out of the sport. And we all keep working hard everyday to reach that varsity level.”
Skilnik says that they are all working hard every single day to reach the varsity level next year. The JV team is a very solid squad and they are ready for anything.
The JV squad is scheduled to play Canfield next. Canfield is a quality softball team and has been thriving for many years. The JV team will have a tough game but they should come out on top with the win. If they win this game that will take their record to an even 4-4. The JV team really needs to come out on top with a win in this one.
With the season winding down the Varsity team has now won the NE8 and is ready for the playoffs. The JV team has been helping out at practice every day. They have been helping the varsity team every single day. The practices for the softball team are productive practices and that is how they have led to their great success on the field.
The bond with the JV team is just as good as the Varsity team. They have a strong bond on and off the field and they get along great. The Myrtle beach trip that they all took over spring break has really brought the teams together and have built their bond up a lot which has led to their success on the field.
