The Lakeview Bulldogs Junior Varsity team this year is hot. This year they have been dominating the competition all year with having less than a handful of losses the whole entire year. The Bulldogs have 6 new freshmen for the JV team this year. These guys have contributed to the success and helped build from the team they had last year.
Freshman David Costas says, “This JV team is very special and everyone on this team has a lot of talent. Some would even say that we are the best team in the nation. Overall I am very happy to be a part of this team and be able to share a remarkable season with the guys.”
This team all year has been flawless and have competed with every matchup they have gotten. Even against high level teams like Canfield, Austintown Fitch, Southrange and Poland. The Bulldogs never backed down because that is the type of team they are. They are young into the Lakeview Baseball program and still manage to do the right things when it comes to on the field. Doing the fundamentals like these guys do starts all the way from head Coach, Mr Carson. This then quickly trickles down to the Varsity players and then down to the Junior Varsity players.
These Junior Varsity players are well coached. They are currently being coached by 2 Lakeview Alumni, Blaine Barr and Tyler Capan who previously played for the Bulldogs just a couple of years ago. Both of these guys were very helpful to the Bulldogs previously and helped build it up to what it is today. This is very cool for these young JV players to have guys like them because they not only have a lot of experience on the diamond themselves, but they have a lot of experience within the Lakeview Baseball program in itself.
Freshman Alex Yannucci states, “It’s pretty cool having them as our coaches. They give good advice to us and on top of that it makes the game a little more fun when having them around.”
The Bulldogs Junior Varsity are planning to win out their next couple of games to wrap up the season. Unfortunately it is nearing the end of the season for them due to there being no Junior Varsity tournament. While this is unfortunate, many of the JV players have multiple years ahead of them to make an impact. Some have already got some varsity time and some are still waiting to get their chance. The players, coaches and fans all have high expectations for these guys. Many of the players have goals for themselves to fulfill over the next couple of years as a bulldog.
Freshman Alex Cash explains, “I am excited for these next upcoming years. I believe that there is a lot of potential in our team to do great things in the future.” Many of these guys think the same way and have the goal of dominating the conference over the next couple of years and then compete in as many district championships as possible. This year the bulldogs have a very high chance of competing for a district championship. If this happens it will help the younger side of the program see what it takes to compete in those high level playoff games. Overall this Junior Varsity team has exceeded past expectations and will continue to do phenomenal things in the upcoming years.
