Lakeview Ski Club is back again with another year of carving and taking on the slopes. The Club has been together for many years now and is still going strong. Many kids love to participate in the ski club each year and it is a great opportunity for the kids to go skiing. Whether they are beginners at the slopes or pros it is a way for the students to be active during the winter.

The Lakeview ski club goes up to peak n peak four times a year. The students get bussed up to the slopes each time, they just have to buy the pass to be able to ski and their gear. This club gives students discounts on the passes to be able to go up there if they order within a certain time as well. Lakeview art teacher Jeff Piper is the head of this club and he has some helpers along with him like Lakeview math teacher and coach Dean Shanower.

While talking to some of the ski club members they had nothing but good to say and they explained how they love it each year they attend the club. They also explained how this year just hasn’t been the same though. With all of the bad weather, Piper has had to cancel multiple times and it has not been the best for the skiing season. One good thing is they are able to reschedule to make sure the students get to go up the amount of times they are supposed to.

While talking about favorite memories sophomore Madeline Isenberg states, ¨My favorite memory is when I was on the terrain park with my friend Annaliese and I tried to hit a new jump and did not land correctly and we both ended up covered in snow.¨

Senior Nathan Paolucci also explained, ¨My favorite memory from ski club is when my friends and I all decided that we were gonna lock arms all the way down the hill so we tried and then we ended up all crashing into each other. It was so fun.¨

Finally senior Calan Cunningham says, ¨Some of my favorite memories from ski club are being able to hangout with all of my friends and hit the hills and trails. It is really nice to be able to go up skiing in the middle of the week and ski with your buddies that is what I like most about ski club.¨

The Lakeview ski club is a great way for the students to bond with each other and teach others who may be new to skiing. The ski club busses leave at three o’clock right after school on Wednesdays and they head up to peak n ´ peak and ski for hours. The students are able to pick where they go once they get there and have the freedom to do what they want.

When asking what was the best thing about ski club Paolucci states, ¨My favorite thing about ski club is getting to spend time and ski with my friends. I love getting to go and do something after school during the winter time and I look forward to the ski club each year.”

Then Cunningham explained, ¨I like that we get to take a charter bus instead of a regular bus, it makes the ride a lot more comfortable and makes it feel faster to get there.¨

The Lakeview ski club is one of the biggest clubs at the high school and is loved by many students. It is a great way to keep the students active during the cold winter months, be able to spend time with friends outside of the school classroom, and is a great hobby that students can use and have fun with for most of their lives.
