This spring has come off to a freezing start! With the groundhog predicting early spring, I’m not quite sure if he was right about that. The past couple of weeks have been chilly for spring with weather from 40 and 50 degrees. A couple of rain showers and rarely any full sunny days!
Spring is a time of growth and revival of nature from the cold winters. We need some warm weather for the plants to grow and animals to wake up from hibernation. In spring, usually temperatures gradually rise. We haven’t seen that quite yet with the weather being in the high 40’s for a couple of weeks.
Sophomore Ali Parise shares her feelings about this cold weather saying, “I just wish that it would get warmer. I hate this cold weather because when it’s warm it puts me in a good mood because it reminds me that summer is just around the corner.”
Parise is right about that. Warm weather usually puts people in positive moods because the sun is out and it gives people a glimpse of summer. Parise also shares “I love going to school when it’s warm because I get to wear shorts and it just makes me happy, but with this cold weather I feel the opposite.”
Spring is a time to wear shorts and short sleeves to school which is always a marking point for the end of the year. However, we have had some bad weather with tornado warnings and a bunch of thunderstorms, this is a sign of warm weather coming. Tornadoes are common during spring because of the combination of cold and warm temperatures. This means that some warm air is trying to come through.
Junior Colben Schick shares his opinion on this year’s spring weather saying, “This spring has not had a good start weather wise. Spring is usually warm weather and it has been chilly and cold so far. I really hope that it starts to get warmer because I’m so excited for summer!”
Many students at Lakeview are hoping for this warm weather this spring. While warm weather brings happiness, wearing shorts, and hanging out with friends outside, it also adds to the end for the seniors last year.
The next couple of weeks should be warm for us hopefully! This slightly warm weather will be great for students. For students in track, cross country, baseball, and softball, games and meets should be great for them with no rain. With cold weather, it is hard to play in, whereas if it was sunny the players would have a great time.
Sophomore Maddie Pompoco describes how she is really in need of warm weather saying “I wish there would be warm weather right now because volleyball practice just started up and we condition outside and it would be great if it wasn’t cold and miserable”
Students like Pompoco in sports are really affected by weather. Some of the days of this spring it has snowed a little bit and imagine running in that. Pompoco also shares “I enjoy running outside way better when it’s nice and sunny out. When it’s cold and cloudy it is not fun at all. The warm gives me motivation to go to practice and I feel like I do better when the weather is great”
As you can see, students here at Lakeview love the warm weather and are wishing to see a change in the cold climates that we have been getting. Warm weather gives positive attitudes and motivation to the students whether it helps them with school or sports. Hopefully, this spring the weather will rise instead of having these cold temperatures!
