The Lakeview High School boys basketball program has entered a new season this 2025-2026 season with purpose, pride, and a clear commitment to their excellence. From the Bulldogs first day of practice to the final buzzer of each and every game they play, they are focused on building momentum through having discipline, accountability, and having shared beliefs in their teams success. All is guided by the program’s expectations that are outlined from their coaches. The Bulldogs basketball team continues to empathize with their effort not only on the court, but also in the classrooms and respecting their community as they just built beds for those in need.
At the heart of the program is a culture that is valuing their growth. The players are expected to always arrive on time, make sure they are working hard every single day, and always hold themselves and all of their teammates accountable to performing at their highest ability. With the conditioning, basketball IQ, and skill developments, these players are physically and mentally prepared to take on all of their competition starting from in conference games, all the way to non conference games. These players are reminded constantly that representing themselves as a Bulldog is important not only for sportsmanship, but also representing who they are as a person to their community outside of the gym.
Senior captain Isaiah Lantz believes that the foundation they had last season most definitely set a tone for what they have ahead for them as a team. “Our expectations are to build off of last year and have a winning season,” Lantz vocalizes. “As far as tournament wise, the goal is always to make districts and go on a run.”
That focus reflects the key principles of the team in general: success is built through having trust and consistency and collective effort over a period of time.
Academics are always the priority within the Bulldogs program. All players are expected to attend their classes, show respect toward all teachers and staff, and overall maintain their eligibility. The coaching staff reinforces the meaning of what being responsible means, and how to take pride in every athlete’s academic performance. Having this emphasis helps shape the overall discipline of each and every athlete’s life.
Senior captain Matthew Leonard sees that having balance is a big part of what makes this team so strong, “Coach makes it clear that being successful in the classroom is equally as important as it is on the gym floor.”
Leonard believes that the program’s belief, accountability off the court has led to more chemistry and confidence on it.
Teamwork is another thing that is expected in the Bulldogs program. From diving to the loose balls, cheering from the bench, and setting screens, each and every contribution matters the same. The seniors are specifically expected to lead by example by setting the tone at practices and games.
Preston Littleton, also a senior, has taken pride in his role as a senior. “We’re focused on bringing energy every day to push each other to get better everyday.” Littleton explains. “If we stay focused, trust the process, and play for each other, I know that we can accomplish anything.”
Having that mindset reflects the Bulldog’s program itself: resilience, effort, and continuous improvement from all of the players.
As the season unfolds, the Bulldogs are not done chasing wins just yet- they are building their character on and off the court, striving to exceed the expectations set by their program, and strengthening their bonds with every teammate. With the experienced players leading their way for a successful season, the Bulldogs are ready to take all of their preparation and use momentum in their performances to have successful results.
