The girls’ track season is off to a fast start, this season, while showing determination, teamwork, and school pride in every race. The girls’ season started with attending long after-school practices on the track and working hard for improvement. The dedication they have to their team is shown through long practices, teamwork in relays, and running hard towards the finish line. Hard work on the track isn’t just physical, it’s mental too. There are days when legs feel heavy, and motivation is low, but that’s when the real growth happens, and the girls encourage each other through it all. The 2026 girls’ track team is such a great group of girls overall, and they have so much fun cheering each other on when the hard work pays off.
The girls are taking in every moment of this year and not taking anything for granted, especially the seniors. There are many emotions during track season, but they are working hard and are excited to see how it goes.
Senior athlete, Joss Burkey, explained, “As I am starting my last season for the track team, I am filled with many emotions. This season so far has started with many positive aspects, such as new PR’s. I am beyond blessed to have coaches who have mentally and physically prepared me to conquer this season. I am excited to see where this season will go, and I am going to soak up every second of it as it is my last season on the track.”
As Burkey stated, being a senior in a sport, knowing it’s your last season, is a surreal feeling. It’s bittersweet, and there is a constant mix of emotions throughout the season. The seniors feel proud of everything they have accomplished over the years and are soaking up every second of their last run.
The girls are extremely focused this season and are working hard to achieve their goals. They are excited to see what this season has to bring while striving to be better.
Sophomore athlete, Marisol Easton, stated, “ The season has been going really well, and I’m excited for what’s ahead. I’m finally on a team that makes me happy and pushes me to be better. I have been working hard and training for the season, starting off with indoor track and moving on to the outdoor season, which has many opportunities to come.”
Along with what Easton explained, the girls have many goals this season that they can achieve with the support of their teammates. Even though track is often seen as an individual sport, your teammates are the ones who keep you going on the hardest days, when you are tired, sore, or not feeling confident.
Consistency and dedication are at the heart of girls’ track, shaping not just stronger athletes but stronger individuals. Success doesn’t come from one great race; it comes from showing up even when it’s hard and having dedication.
Sophomore athlete, Elise Bowser, stated, “By staying consistent, working hard, and being dedicated to the process, our season is going amazingly. We work as a team to push each other and better ourselves. All the countless practices and time put in pay off during the season and off-season.”
As Bowser explained, what makes their journey even more rewarding is seeing how far they have come as individuals and as a team. Every challenge they have faced has strengthened their bond and reminded them why they love the sport. They are proud of what they have accomplished, but even more excited for what lies ahead.
The 2026 girls’ track team continues to prove that success is built through perseverance, unity, and heart. Each practice, meet, and moment together strengthens not only their athletic abilities but also their character and friendships. As they look toward the rest of the season, the girls are determined to keep giving their all while leaving everything on the track and creating memories that will last long after the final race is over.
