This season for the Lakeview jv basketball team is a season like no other. The boys team has started out with a record of (4-0) and are just getting started and have no intent on stopping any time soon. The young jv team is filled with great athletes and players looking to prove themselves for varsity. With coach Pugh coaching them they have had great success this season so far.
The Bulldogs are undefeated this season and with a big game coming Friday against Nile’s they are just looking to add to that record. With a lot of big wins this season the bulldogs played their last game against a tough South Range team that is always a dog fight for the team they came out strong and proved that they are worthy. The Bulldogs go out into every practice hard and they practice with the varsity doing drills and scrimmages against them which plays a huge role in their success.
A standout player this year on the jv team is freshman Conor Davin. Davin has seen some time on the varsity court as only a freshman, but he is one of the standout players that have really contributed to this breakout season for the Lakeview jv team. He is a starter on Jv but also carries over into the varsity game.
Davin could clearly identify why the team is doing well this year. He said, “We are working hard at practice everyday and playing team basketball to win games.”
Davin added. “We really are a great team and can play with each other no matter what” and that is what has lead them to have a undefeated season this year and they are just looking to keep adding wins to that 4-0 record. Against Badger the team beat the team in a blowout scoring 80 points winning by over 50.
Another player that was questioned was sophomore Jackson Stewart, another great player who is also seeing action on both the jv and varsity teams.
“We have a good group of guys, a lot of young guys that are willing to work hard and get better. It also helps that Coach Pugh is there to inspire us and push us to our limits everyday,” Stewart said.
Stewart says the team is a great group of players and their coach pushes them to their basketball limits every time they step foot on that court and that’s why they are different from any other team in the area.
The last player that was questioned was Nick Sulc. Sulc is a sophomore and has been on the court all of his life. Sulc has seen some time on varsity and understands the level he needs to play at to have success with basketball and be a leader on the court.
Sulc commented on the remainder of the season, “Throughout the rest of the season we plan on getting better every single along with pushing the varsity team every day. We know we have a great group with a lot of potential, we have a lot of trust in each other and hope to end the season undefeated.”
Sulc added that the team is getting better every single day in the gym and they have a great group of guys out there with a lot of potential. And making sure they get their varsity team better every single day in practice.
The Bulldogs jv basketball program is at an all time high right now and they plan on going out there every game and just playing their game. They have a lot of great players and are ready for anything. They are definitely a great upcoming program and a great team to go out and watch.
