It is time to shine a light on some of our seniors who have made a lasting impact on our school community. This Senior Spotlight will be featuring Isabella Isenberg, a remarkable student who has dedicated twelve years into excelling in both academics and athletics.
Isenberg has spent the last four years excelling in her scholars and being an active member in numerous clubs including French club, National Honor Society, Senior Beta Club, S.M.A.S.H., junior and senior executive committee, and is the elected senior Class President.
As graduation approaches, Isenberg reflects on her memorable high school years, reminiscing over her countless memories at Lakeview. She shares her thoughts on what she’ll miss, expressing, “The thing I’m going to miss most about Lakeview are the people. I’ve developed friendships with so many fantastic people and I feel so blessed that each day I’m able to walk into school and create so many amazing memories with people that I’ve known for so many years.”
Throughout her high school career, she has been able to grow as a student and serve as a role model for her younger classmates. Isenberg advises, “A piece of wisdom I would pass down to the underclassmen would be to find the good in every moment of your high school experience. Not all days will be the best but learning how to find joy in even the hardest days can transform the experience entirely and make your time more meaningful.”
As Isenberg continues to be influential for the underclassmen, she acknowledges the teachers who have left a positive impact on her, “During school I’ve had so many teachers that have made my experience wonderful. It’s difficult for me to narrow it down to only one because all of my teachers have a great impact on me but to give you two Murph and Mrs. Miller have had a profoundly positive influence on my life. Having the privilege of taking two years of chemistry from Murph really helped me grow as a student and person. Murph taught me to find joy in learning difficult concepts and inspired my passion for chemistry. He also never fails to brighten my day. Mrs. Miller taught me so many lessons as well but specifically she taught me to have confidence in myself and my ability. Although her courses were challenging she motivated me to be my best self and brings so much joy to my days”
When it comes to Lakeview athletics, Isenberg has participated and contributed heavily to the success of the girl’s basketball and softball teams for the last four years.
Isenberg reminisces on her athletic accomplishments, expressing, “One of my favorite sports memories was during my junior season of softball when my team advanced to the state semi-finals. Truly all moments spent playing with my teammates are incredibly meaningful to me but making it so far in playoffs and getting to bond even more with my teammates were moments I will forever cherish. Also, seeing how much our school district and community came together to support us was so amazing and a very surreal experience to have some much encouragement from those around us.”
Senior year is a pivotal moment in every student’s life, marked by both challenges and excitement. It serves as a culmination of their educational journey, celebrating the years they’ve spent in school. When reflecting on her senior year, Isenberg highlights, “Rather than just one big moment during the year I think it’s the smaller moments like going to football games, going out with friends, and playing with my basketball team that have created so many amazing memories in my senior year so far.”
Isenberg is one of the few seniors who have decided where they want to continue both their academic and athletic careers for the next four years. “My next mission in life is to go to college at Otterbein University where I will play softball and work towards a degree in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. I’m very excited to embark on this next chapter in my life and to see what life in college has in store for me. Simultaneously though I feel reluctant to leave my life at Lakeview because it has brought me so much happiness and so many beautiful memories” Isenberg exclaims.
As Isenberg is approaching graduation, she is preparing herself for the next big chapter in her life. Otterbein University is extremely lucky to have her, and Lakeview wishes her nothing but the best!
