As we approach the last week of the 2026 school year for seniors, it is important to reflect on those who are graduating. In the article, we will be honoring Macyn Horodyski, a senior that has done many noteworthy things throughout her four years at Lakeview high school.
For starters, she is a proud president of the Creativity Commons Club, vice president of the Film and Photography Club, four-year letter winner in Marching Band, and four-year letter winner in the drama department. While juggling numerous extracurriculars she has still made it a priority to get good grades and lead by example.
Looking back at her freshman year, Horodyski admits there is one thing she would change: “If there was one thing I could change, it would be to have taken the ACT and SAT more than I had.”
When asked about the powers she has acquired throughout her time in high school, Horodyski states, “The thing I gained in my years at LHS besides a stellar education would be a greater understanding of myself, especially during high school.”
Throughout her time at Lakeview, one teacher has specifically stood out as a positive role model. Horodyski credits English teacher Carrie Shlatt as her superhero, “because she is endlessly passionate about what she does and she has a wealth of great advice she’s willing to give to anyone who listens.”
Reflecting on the role models that have impacted her life, Horodyski credits, “My Dad is the biggest inspiration because he’s one of the main driving forces behind why I push myself so hard.”
Some notable wisdom that Horodyski would pass down to the students in the grade level before is, “Don’t give yourself a break, go full send the whole time, don’t take the easy courses, and try to push your way through the boring stuff because you only get one chance to do this.”
When asked about her favorite out of school memory, Horodyski did not hesitate to mention, “My favorite memory would be my freshman year trip to Florida with the marching band. The part that stood out to me the most would be when we were watching the fireworks at Disney on the second to last day. It was very tranquil and I just remember feeling distinctly happy at the moment.”
As her time at Lakeview high school comes to an end it’s the people and community that she will miss most as she venture off to college: “Marching band, and also just how small and familiar the community is, as well as all the teachers and staff members that have helped me all throughout my four years here.”
This fall, Horodyski will begin her next mission at The Ohio State University, where she plans to be a part of the exploratory program. Although she is “Nervous, yet pretty excited to get on with it” we all are confident Horodyski will go on to do amazing things in this next chapter of her life.
Her legacy of dedication, creativity, and passion at Lakeview High School will certainly be remembered. Congratulations, Horodyski, on an incredible four years at Lakeview. The end of a chapter may be approaching but the future is bright. Good luck at OSU, and go Buckeyes!
