With senior year coming to an end, we like to recognize the seniors and their accomplishments at Lakeview High School. This Senior Spotlight will be featuring Ashlyn Miller. Her 12 years of education have been filled with academic and athletic success, preparing her for the journey ahead.
Senior year is a time filled with anticipation and celebration, as students look forward to the moments that mark the end of their high school career. Miller reflects on her most anticipated senior event, explaining, “I was most excited for senior sunset because it gives you an opportunity to connect with your classmates that you don’t normally talk to. It also helps build your relationships closer with your friends.”
Miller dwells on her unforgettable high school years, reminiscing over her countless memories at Lakeview. She shares what will stay with her, expressing, “I will always remember my first high school dance and spending time with friends when getting ready, going to dinner as well as going to the dance and having fun.”
During her time at Lakeview, Miller has been able to grow as both a student and person, learning lessons that have now stuck with her. She looks back on her triumphs, highlighting, “I have learned true resilience over the years. This is because high school has brought many challenges into my life such as picking the classes that would best fit what I want to do in life. Each experience that I faced pushed me to keep moving forward when things got difficult. I have learned that growth shapes you to who you are supposed to be.”
Miller has been cheerleading since elementary school, she cherishes the sport and loves every second of it. Cheer has shown her how to be determined and to put in the work in order to get the best results. Miller emphasizes, “I am so grateful for the relationships and bond that we all had as a team. I have found some of my forever best friends on this squad and am so sad to leave so soon.”
With years of experience, she has been able to grow as an athlete and serve as a role model for her younger teammates, Miller advises, “Don’t take anything for granted. Also, I doubted that high school would fly by. I always hear people say that it will go by fast but I didn’t believe them, so make the most of it.“
As Miller continues to be influential for the underclassmen, she remembers the people who have positively impacted her, “I would say the teacher who has influenced me the most is Mr. Murphy, he was always there to put a smile on your face. I would also say my friends and family have been by my side through every decision I have made and have been so supportive.”
Miller’s twelve years of education at Lakeview have been nothing but positive. Her experience has been unforgettable. She remembers some of her favorite moments, saying, “Cheering under the Friday night lights with my best friends was my absolute favorite. I also loved planning the pep rallies and seeing the other students all come together. Senior year helped me grow closer with my friends and create so many new friendships.”
As Miller is approaching graduation, she is preparing herself for the next four years of her life. “My next mission is figuring out what I want to do after high school. This is such a big step in my life and I am excited to see what is in store for my future.”
Wherever Miller’s next chapter takes her, they’ll be lucky to have her. Lakeview wishes her the best of luck!
