Senior year has been a time of reflection and excitement for Maddie Pompoco, as she looks back on the memories and experiences that have shaped her throughout her time at Lakeview. From the classroom to her involvement in multiple sports and clubs, she has made the most of her four years and created moments she will carry with her long after graduation.
One of Pompoco’s favorite memories comes from her junior year chemistry class, a place that quickly became the highlight of her day. “My favorite memories were from my junior year chemistry class. We always had fun and had our own inside jokes. I looked forward to going every single day,” she said. The class was more than just academics—it was a space filled with laughter, friendships, and a sense of belonging that made school something she genuinely enjoyed.
Her commitment to excellence is evident through her involvement in several school organizations. Pompoco is a member of NHS and Senior Beta, both of which reflect her dedication to academics, leadership, and service. She was also active in French Club, 126, and Jr. Exec, where she built connections with her peers and developed important leadership skills. These experiences allowed her to grow not only as a student but also as a person who values teamwork and her community.
When asked about the people who have influenced her the most, Pompoco immediately pointed to her biggest supporter at home. “I would say my mom has inspired me throughout my high school career because she always inspired me to do my best in everything I did,” she shared. That encouragement helped her stay focused on her goals and pushed her to put forth her best effort in everything she pursued.
At Lakeview, one teacher who made a lasting impact on Pompoco was math teacher Jamie Miller, “I would say that my Lakeview superhero is Mrs. Miller because she made me realize which subject I am the strongest in and made me the confident student I am today,” Pompoco said. That confidence played a major role in helping her succeed academically and believe in her abilities.
As she reflects on her senior year, one moment stands out above the rest. “Homecoming has been the highlight of my senior year so far because I cherished it a lot more than any other school dance,” she explained. The night was a reminder of the friendships she has built and the memories she has created throughout high school.
Pompoco also has meaningful advice for younger students who are just beginning their high school journey. “I advise that you put 100% into every assignment you do, not only does it benefit you now, but it will also benefit when it matters most. Also, high school flies by, so make sure to appreciate every moment,” she said. Her words reflect the lessons she has learned through her own experiences—work hard, stay involved, and enjoy the time you have.
While she is excited about what comes next, leaving Lakeview will not be easy. “I am going to miss all my friends that I met through my years at Lakeview,” Pompoco said, reflecting on the relationships that made her high school experience so meaningful. The daily routines, the familiar hallways, and the activities she loved will all be difficult to leave behind.
Looking ahead, Pompoco is ready for the next chapter of her life. “After high school, I plan to attend Kent State to become a speech pathologist. I’m so excited to embark on this new adventure, especially because I found a career path that really suits me and is something that I will definitely enjoy doing,” she said. With a clear goal and strong support system, she is prepared to take on this new challenge.
Maddie Pompoco’s time at Lakeview has been defined by dedication, involvement, and meaningful connections. Through NHS, Senior Beta, French Club, 126, Jr. Exec, and countless classroom memories, she has built a strong foundation for her future. As she prepares to graduate, she leaves behind a legacy of positivity, hard work, and a reminder to future students to make the most of every moment.
