Matthew Leonard has been a Bulldog his entire life! Lakeview has always been his home and he couldn’t be more proud of that. Leonard is beloved by so many of his friends, family, teachers and more, he has truly been such an inspiration to so many younger students!
As our seniors get closer and closer to graduations they like to reflect on some memories. Leonard’s favorite memory was claimed to be “Sophomore year math class, I had an amazing time in Mr. Facciolo’s geometry class. I shared so many laughs and learned so much in that class, it really was a great time!”
Leonard plans on staying positive and doing his best to get through college and become a nurse. He knows it may be challenging but he is ready to take on that challenge to make his dream of becoming a nurse true. He is extremely excited and we are so excited for him!
Speaking of things he’ll never forget, Leonard states “One thing I will remember most about Lakeview is the friends I have made over the years. So many memories were made and I feel like I’ve accomplished so much and so much more I want to accomplish in the future.”
As Leonard’s senior year starts to wrap up he advises all underclassmen to “Have fun, hangout with your friends, work hard and enjoy being in high school.”
Throughout Leonard’s time here at Lakeview one thing that he thinks has dramatically improved is his studying habits. He states “I was never really a studier and never really took it too seriously, but I really decided to make a change. I realize how important it is to study. I’m going off to college and will really use this skill in my future.”
One of Leonard’s favorite things about High school was sports. He took a lot of pride in his sports. He played 4 years of basketball and 4 years of baseball as well as 3 years of football. He states “Sports are something that really are such a big part of my life from playing basketball outside when I was younger to now going to play in college. I can’t wait to take on this journey and see what is in store for me.”
Leonard also really enjoyed going to basketball and football games showing school spirit. He thinks it’s very important for underclassmen to know to try and attend as much as possible. He states “Before you know it you’ll be attending your last football game and then never go again.”
Lakeview has some of the best staff around! One of Leonard’s most inspiring teachers is former math teacher and current athletic director Mark Novotny. He states “Novo is a very chill guy. He is a great math teacher and very helpful when I need it. He is very good at explaining and really gets the topic down teaching us what to do.” One thing Leonard is most excited for is to graduate and move on to the next chapter in his life. He plans on playing basketball and majoring in nursing, he is excited to be able to help people and make a difference in their life.
Leonard has made so many friends throughout his high school career and we asked senior Aidan Barnot to say a few words and he said “Leonard is a great friend and an amazing athlete as well, he’s always down for a good time and never fails to make you laugh.”
Leonard has learned so much from Lakeview and his experience here has definitely been something special. We wish him so much luck as he moves on from Lakeview Highschool. He can’t wait to begin his new chapter becoming a nurse. Goodluck!
