The end of the third grading quarter is looming on the horizon next week, marking both the beginning of the fourth quarter and the approaching end of the senior students’ time spent at Lakeview High School. One such senior is Cheyenne Pistilli. Pistilli is a multi-talented student with notable participation in Lakeview’s different art and performance programs.
Pistilli’s many passions range vastly,“I have gone to several competitions for Honors choir, Chamber choir, solo and ensemble for band and choir, Thespians, and several more trips for choir and marching band. Outside of Lakeview and TCTC I worked closely with equine animals and was able to prepare for a horse show for the next year, my trip to Columbus to see the horse shows, my martial arts journey throughout my freshman and sophomore year, and my several shows I took part in for drama.”
Out of all of Pistilli’s many pursuits, choir sticks out as the highlight of Pistilli’s life as a Lakeview student. She shares that, “Without a doubt, choir has made me the happiest I have ever been in high school. It became an escape from all of the other school work and became a part of my life for as long as I live.”
Teachers at Lakeview helped Pistilli achieve greatness. She had multiple teachers who made an impact on her, which she says includes, “My choir teacher Mrs. Shelton, she created the escape for me, and is my reason why I never gave up during my junior and senior year. Without her I would never have passed the junior year.Mrs. Hogue because without her my sophomore year I would have fallen behind to the point of not passing the grade. She noticed when I was down and when I was struggling and let me try again with many chances. She is the reason I passed my sophomore year. Finally, Mr. Voorhies, he had me back in 7th grade history, and I loved his class, going into my senior year seeing that he was on my schedule brought a smile to my face as I remembered years ago how much fun he made his class and how quickly he was able to grab my attention in classes even if I thought I had no interest in the subject. He’s an amazingly fun teacher and I enjoy going to his class a lot.”
Pistilli also places great value in her friends at Lakeview. According to her, “They have always been there and I would not be who I am without their help. They are there everyday to help me with art, choir, and school work when I don’t understand them. They help me along the way without complaining. Without them I don’t know where I would be.”
Senior year is a time of highs and lows. There’s the excitement of what is to come, but also the bittersweetness of moving on from friends and teachers. Pistilli says that the thing they will miss the most about Lakeview “is my choir family. They were there when a lot of others weren’t, I would not trade my time with them for the world.”
Before that time comes, however, Pistilli seems to be making the most of it. The upcoming school event Pistilli is most excited to attend as her senior year wraps up is prom. “My boyfriend is coming up to Ohio and we are going to be having a lot of fun that day. It will be thrilling to me because I get to introduce him to my friends and it will also be the first time I get to see him in several years.”
We wish Pistilli good luck as she graduates and continues to do great things in the future!
