The Lakeview football team made the playoffs this year and it was an exciting time for everyone. The student section was packed for the final game and everyone was pumped up. Although the season may be over now, let’s see what some players on the team had to say about the final game.
Senior Kyle Somich said, “Being able to play in the playoffs was such an amazing experience for me. I have played football my whole life. From starting out playing football in elementary school, to now being able to play all the way up to my senior year has been such a great experience. I went to every high school game as a kid and it was honestly surreal to be playing our playoff game at the home field under the same lights. I knew that all of my hard work had gotten me to that moment and I knew the team was not going to let up. I played as hard as I could until the final seconds. Even though the last game did not end like we would have liked it to, I am still honored to have played with such amazing teammates and coaches.”
Junior Landon Hall shared his experience as well. Hall mentioned, “The last game of the year was really good. Being able to play in the playoff game made me realize that all of the hard work that the team put in during the off season and all summer had finally paid off. With the help from other teammates and coaches, we were able to make it this far as a team. Despite how our final game went and did not go as the team would have liked, it felt good to make it that far. I have played with such an amazing team surrounded by great teammates and coaches, and I am excited to see what the next season holds. Next up, we have the off season work coming up again and I will work harder than I did last year. I am excited to see what next year holds for the team and how much better we will be.”
Senior Jacob Grossman shared his final thought on the game, “ I am glad I made the decision to play this year. Last year I stopped playing but that made me realize how much I really lived the game. I have played football ever since I was little and it only felt right if I had played during my senior year. Football had taught me so much and I couldn’t just not play the game I love one last time. Being able to make it to the playoffs my senior year was a great way to end my football career. Even though I was injured for the majority of the season, just being around the football environment was enough for me. Being able to experience that as a team was an honor to have. I am glad that I chose to play this year and am excited for the upcoming players for Lakeview.”
You can see how much this game means to these players. To some, it might just be a game that you watch, but to them, it was their life. Most of these players have played for their entire life, so you can imagine how hard it is to play for one last time. Overall, the Lakeview football team had a great season. We had our ups and downs in the past few years but we’re trending up now! In the meantime, let’s get ready for the winter and upcoming spring sports!
